I have been reading Hatsumi's books and I have a application on my Ipad "Kotoba" it is a Japanese translation program and I look up every word in Japanese. Brings me new understanding of his words. Confusing sometimes and really funny sometimes.

Yes it can be, especailly when a word in japanese could multiple translations to english.
Most of the translators of the books are long time students of hatsumi's, and i wouldnt be suprised if they get the translations wrong sometimes too, ninjutsu is mostly an oral art, putting it down onto words sometimes looses its feeling and meaning.

When you attend Soke's classes at the Hombu, he generally uses a combination of translators. It is evident that the translators don't always get it right either, due to the fact that Soke will repeat himself sometimes to make sure they have picked up the feeling of what he is trying to get across.
