That was the question that was on my mind constantly for the past 40 years - are Tai Chi Balls squishy or not?

I spent many a long evening questioning first fellow students and then, when I began teaching, my own students about this oh-so-important piece of knowledge. None of them could supply an answer, although most of them threatened me with physical harm and one gave me her phone number.

But now, thanks to Atomic Athletic, the answer is mine! I finally know the answer to the question of the ages -

    Peace at last!

And, I'm happy to learn that even the Beginner's Balls weigh in at a healthy 2-3 pounds and are used at the start of the workout for warm-ups, cool-downs and any marathon length sessions.

Tai Chi Balls – Squishy or Not
Sure, we sell a wide variety of Medicine Balls. They are great, but they are not Tai Chi Balls.

The hallmark of a Tai Chi Ball is that it is NOT squishy. So a traditional Tai Chi Ball is made of wood or stone. Unfortunately, stone is dense stuff that makes for a heavy ball. Depending on the time spent training and the actual movements, the stone ones are just too heavy.

Atomic Athletic now has THREE different sizes of Tai Chi Balls made of solid wood. We have a Beginner, Intermediate and an Advanced size.

Tai Chi ball is called Baoding ball and used for exercising. The small ball is use to exercise the hands and a larger ball exercises the rest of the body. Master Fahy

... and the fact that the traditional ones were wood was supposed to have something to do with the qi flow ...

Personally I use metal ones and create a lightning show that would make Tesla proud. :sneaky:
