Yes, I read that as well. He said he was taking the steroid for his bad knee to help heal it, I think I remember him saying that he was training, but not for a fight or anything, and had stopped using the medicine well before he got the call to fight, so he felt he would have been fine and tested clean. Feel bad for Bonnar, too, because when Dana kicked him out it destroyed him. He was told by Dana that he would always have a place in the UFC, and he had retired, but when Dana called him he couldn't say no for 3 reasons, 1. the money, 2. the chance to beat Silva and 3. because Dana asked.

    Uh... gotta disagree here.

Steroids are nothing more than synthetic testosterone. People talk about testosterone and steroids like they are completely different animals -- they aren't. And one of the ways in which you test for steroids/testosterone is through testing looking for elevated testosterone levels and checking T/E ratios (among other ways).

Hormone replacement therapy is a semantic description, but whether a doctor prescribes testosterone or a you buy Deca from Vinny, you are taking a performance enhancer. By the way, it is ridiculously easy to manipulate your testosterone to appear low in a test for a doctor such that even an ethical one might think you need TRT. Go a night without sleep, eat crap food, and get tested right after training, and your test levels will look like that of a 90 year old woman, during that window of time.

If they have a illegal PED in their system, it comes up on the test. High testosterone is an indicator of using a PED, but the penalties are more severe for having a PED in your system as opposed to just having high testosterone.

That's the max allowed for anyone being tested for steroids. It's not actually an amount of testosterone they're testing, it's the testosterone/epitestosterone ratio...
